This is great, Chaseleffers! Again, I want to resist eliding “we’re all going to be white eventually” with racelessness — this is definitely still a white supremacist vision, even if its a more inclusive white supremacist vision than that of the Klan.

Resist the urge to assume what you know about a religious tradition is all there is to know, though. (This is a super Protestant impulse, and Americans do it all the time.) While you and your acquaintances might find Mormons “mysterious,” in terms of American minority and/or new religions LDS has made incredible strides toward mainstream acceptance — as is evident in a truly staggering amount of 21st century American pop culture as well as American business culture and the American electorate.
